Submission Information
We will look at submissions from April to May for our 2013/2014 list. Manuscripts can arrive between now and May.
Wombat Books accepts unsolicited manuscripts for review to be considered for traditional publishing. As a small publisher, Wombat Books has limited spaces for publication.
We are looking for entertaining original manuscripts, that leave a lasting impression. What does this mean?
Manuscript guidelines:
Typed, in RTF format
12 size font, Times New Roman or Arial
Double spaced
Please post your manuscript AND send an email to let us know you have submitted your manuscript.
We request you include a PREPAID envelope that will fit your ENTIRE manuscript for return. Please do not write on it as we store envelopes separately and this process means we are normally faster at returning manuscripts (ie the envelope used will not necessarily be the one you sent, but will fit your manuscript). Also recent price changes to postage have meant many of our stamped envelopes no longer match the appropriate price, hence we prefer a PREPAID envelope or satchel, not stamps.
It is our policy to return manuscripts where no offer is made. We prefer to return them rather than destroy them. We do this so you have a definite answer regarding your submission. However if a manuscript comes WITHOUT an envelope for return it will not be considered. Please follow our guidelines to make the process quicker for you and for us!
Generally if your manuscript is selected for potential publication you will be advised within 3-4 months. At times backlogs of submissions mean this is further delayed.
If you have any editor/manuscript appraiser comments please include these in your submission. A covering letter including a bio and how you would like to help promote the book is also required. While we will endeavour to do a lot of marketing, as a small press we appreciate our authors being available to help in promotion, or having ideas.
We also prefer no simultaneous submissions, however if you are going to, please let us know in your cover letter.
